2010 Black Bay Kite Expo, Lake Superior

Hey Ontario,

This February, go west to Thunder Bay for the first annual Black Bay Kite Expo. Thunder Bay is located at the head of Lake Superior and Black Bay is an hour to the east, within the newly proclaimed Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area - the world's largest freshwater conservation reserve.

Experience snowkiting in a wilderness setting. Accommodations are available in off-grid log cabins (beyondthegiant.ca), heated yurts or at the cabins at Sleeping Giant Provincial Park - home of the tallest cliffs in Ontario. The setting is the massive frozen waters of Black Bay, typically the first part of the Great Lakes to freeze. At over 80 km long, there is a lot to explore.
